Climate Change Ecology Workshop
The “Climate Change Ecology” theme are planning two experiments for 2018: 1) Empetrum tea bag experiment, to examine the role of a key plant species on decomposition rates in tundra ecosystems, and 2) image-based monitoring using time-laps cameras, to track species responses to climate change. The theme are planning a workshop in April 2018, where the PhD students will present and discuss their own research, and plan the two field experiments. Dr. Toke Høye will organize the workshop at Aarhus University, and you can already sign up by contacting Toke (tth@bios.au.dk).

Ecosystem Services Workshop
The “Ecosystem Services” theme are planning a one week workshop about “Trade-offs and synergies between provisioning Ecosystem services and other ecosystem services” in June 2018. The workshop will be given at the University of Aberdeen, and the theme have 10 guest lecturers lined up to discuss food, fuel, fibre, and cultural and social considerations related to ecosystem services. The PhD students within the theme are organizing the workshop themselves, and you can already sign up by contacting PhD student Jennifer Wardle (r07am15@abdn.ac.uk).

Conflict Mediation course
The “Understanding and managing biodiversity conflicts” theme are planning a one week course in conflict mediation in November 2018. This course will give you hands-on mediation training, by course instructor York van Korff and Estelle Balian. The course will be thought at Grimsö, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Professor Steve Redpath from the University of Aberdeen is the course organizer, and you can already sign up by contacting Steve (s.redpath@abdn.ac.uk).
