Start and end date of the PhD: January 2016 – December 2019

Research (max 300 words): I started my PhD on January 2016 and I expect to finish by the end of 2019. My PhD research is part of SUSTAIN, a project involving several universities and research institutes in Norway. I aim to investigate the combined impact of environmental change and harvesting on arctic tundra food webs, focusing on reindeer Rangifer tarandus as a key species in the system. I will model the spatio-temporal distribution of reindeer carrions in Finnmark and Svalbard as driven by harvest and weather events, and explore the effect of fluctuations in carrions availability on population dynamics of other species, aiming at providing management strategies that will ensure long-term sustainable harvest of populations and maintain ecosystem services.
