This course will take a practical approach to teaching young researchers how to apply for third-party funding and principles in proposal writing. The participants get a primer on the perspective of funders and expert reviewers and learn how to use the different perspectives to optimize their proposal concept addressing the three aspects of Excellence, Impact, and Implementation.

Dr. Susanne Hollmann and Dr. Babette Regierer from SB Science Management will be teaching the course.

Additional invited lecturers :

  • Prof. Barbara Zimmermann: Innland Norway University of Applied Science will talk about her long experience with successful Interreg projects.
  • Dr. Marianna Chimienti: Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow, CEBC, France, will talk about the process of applying for MSCA funding.
  • Ms. Elisabeth Frydenlund: Regional Manager in Inland county for the Norwegian Research Council in Norway (NRC), will give an overview and explain about funding opportunities from the NRC.

Dr Susanne Hollmann is a biochemist by training, with a PhD in Synthetic Biology. Beyond her contribution and involvement in projects, she has outstanding expertise in the development and management of scientific projects, especially in Eureopean Council programs. Since 2014 she is instructor in training courses covering a spectrum of topics including grant writing, project management and Responsible Research & Innovation, and she is also a certified coach for career development. Susanne has also been involved in the foundation of several companies, among them SB Science Management where she works as a consultant for third party funding and supports clients with grant writing. Susanne has extensive experience in reading the fine print of governance rules ensuring that applications conform to guidelines. In addition, Susanne is a grant evaluator for several national and European Commission funding programs.

Dr Babette Regierer did her PhD in Plant Molecular Biology. Babette is specialized in science management and strategy development across the areas of health, plant sciences, environment and agricultural transformation. Babette is co-founder of the company SB Science Management UG located in Belin. Babette provides consultancy for third party funding proposals and conducts training courses on grant writing, Responsible Research & Innovation, and exploitation strategies. Babette is also involved in activities related to technology transfer, communication and dissemination. Her experience encompasses more than 20 years of active participation in project development, design, and writing of competitive project proposals for national and international funding programs including the EU Framework programs. Babette works also as evaluator for European Commission funding instruments.
